Transferring schools is a big decision for any student. For a student-athlete hoping to play at the collegiate level, it’s especially important. The school where a student completes their middle school training lays the groundwork for their high school playing career—and their college prospects.
At Sapolu Destined Academy, we’re committed to making the transfer process as simple as possible, whether your student is beginning the school year with us or transferring mid-semester.
Here are a few reasons transferring might be the right move for your student-athlete, and how SDA can help facilitate that transition.
Reason #1: Their chosen sport isn’t offered (or emphasized) at their current school.
If your child is looking for rigorous training in their chosen sport, it’s important to select a school with experienced coaches in that sport. SDA offers elite training in:
- Football (boys)
- Flag football (girls)
- Soccer
- Basketball
- Baseball
- Volleyball
Our coaches work closely with each student to help them develop their full potential. This entails promoting discipline and hard work, striking a balance between athletics and academics, fostering a sportsmanlike atmosphere, and enhancing athletic performance.

Reason #2: They’re seeking close relationships.
At SDA, we pride ourselves on a rigorous academic approach that allows for close-knit relationships—both among students and between students and faculty. Our small class sizes (with some student-teacher ratios as low as 8:1) encourage rich, collaborative discussions. Additionally, our instructors are available during office hours to provide additional academic support, answer questions, and serve as mentors throughout our students’ middle school journeys.
Reason #3: They could benefit from a different learning environment.
Maybe your student simply needs a change in their academic environment. If that’s the case, SDA might be the right choice for them. We provide:
- High-tech, in-person learning. SDA embraces the best of in-person learning and educational technology. Our classes are small and collaborative, and our students are equipped with laptops, e-textbooks, and other digital tools that help them thrive in the classroom and in the broader digital world.
- Integration of academics and athletics. SDA emphasizes the integration of sports within the curriculum, whether that involves teaching students to balance their sports with their academic life or offering unique classes, such as nutrition.
- Timely feedback and check-ins. Students undergo bi-weekly grade checks to help them stay focused on all their academic goals. Instructors are also frequently available for 1:1 support and assistance.
